Peak Performers Wanted!  Premier Fabrication is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our manufacturing welding team.  We are looking for structural welders who are skilled in print reading and layout work, as well as production welders who have some print reading ability.

Premier Fabrication is a privately owned, steel fabrication and manufacturing solutions provider with a workforce of approximately 100.  Operations are located in Congerville, Illinois, mid-way between Peoria and Bloomington.

We provide steel products and services ranging from structural steel for commercial and industrial clients to general fabrication parts and assemblies for agriculture, energy, construction, and industrial clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Welding of Production Steel Assemblies:

  • Position and clamp work piece together or assemble them into jig or fixture.
  • Tack assemblies together according to specific processes and print specifications.
  • Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
  • Perform in-process visual weld inspections of own work for quality and accuracy according to prints. Finish welds according to process and print specifications. 
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Understand and follow weld procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Ability to work overtime is required. When assigned overtime, must be able to report to work two hours before normally scheduled work hours.

  • AWS Qualified Welder. Candidate must be able to achieve this qualification.
  • Print Reading Ability. Candidate must be able to accurately read prints and decipher weld symbols with minimal direction.
  • Overall Performance. Current and past job performance will be taken into consideration when selecting candidates.
