Premier Fabrication is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our manufacturing painting team on 3rd Shift.  This person will be responsible for spraying surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or a working area with protective/decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer by performing duties listed below.

Premier Fabrication is a privately owned, steel fabrication and manufacturing solutions provider with a workforce of approximately 100.  Operations are located in Congerville, Illinois, mid-way between Peoria and Bloomington.

We provide steel products and services ranging from structural steel for commercial and industrial clients to general fabrication parts and assemblies for agriculture, energy, construction, and industrial clients. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload materials and products on the paint racks and in the paint booth
  • Cleans grease and dirt from product as necessary
  • Masks off parts/areas that are not to be coated
  • Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface as required by project specifications
  • Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color and match specifications
  • Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose
  • Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray
  • Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat as required by project specifications
  • Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush as required by project specifications
  • Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent per manufacturer's recommndations
  • Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool as required by project specifications
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area, paint kitchen, paint booth, and equipment
  • Accurately records time and material on proper forms
  • Accurately records humidity and temperature on proper forms as required by procedures

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree; or 1 - 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
